RECCOMMENDATIONS
I SPELT IT RIGHT SHUT THE FUCK UP
These are my TOP TIER RECOMMENDATIONS. My taste is impeccable. My palette is refined. I enjoy things when they are good. I enjoy them when I am correct to enjoy things and I am always correct so fucking fuck you.
I enjoy these things and therefore everyone will and should. I'm imposing a 50 word limit on myself to comment on the good shit I am recommending. Enjoy.
I reserve the right to not remember how horny some of these fics may or may not be on the basis of being Mega Ace. It's fanfic roulette out there, and y'all are gonna have to deal with it.
- The Garden of Forking Paths
Fandom: The Magnus Archives
This is a beautifully written alternate ending written before the final season was fully released. It explores the idea of alternate universes in a way that is terrifying, touching, disgusting, beautiful, deeply optimistic, and sweet. Mold Martin is ingenius. No notes.
- Dæmorphing
Fandom: Animorphs
What does it mean to be sentient? Does sentience demand responsibilities? Does anyone ever truly deserve to die? How do we move forward from the atrocities that we had no better choice than to commit? Why do the Yeerks do the things that they do? Answer: Animorphs - Daemon au.
- Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Aren't Dead
Fandom: M*A*S*H
I hate script fics. I am deeply in love with this. This piece could have only existed in this format and every step of the way justifies both its form and its prose. Perfectly in character, absurdist in a way the show could have revelled in if given the chance.
- The Hungry Heart, the Roving Eye
Fandom: Road to El Dorado
A modern au with clear inspiration from Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Funny, witty, and what's that??? It's CHEL WITH THE STEEL CHAIR!!!!!! It's impressive when a shipfic can balance the characters of a couple, and very rare is the case when the same could be said with a throuple.
- Antipodes
Fandom: Les Miserables
Pacific Rim fusion. I'm a sucker for memory problems. Playing with Jaeger tech. Enjolras and Grantaire aren't drift compatible, but what if they tried to pilot a jaeger anyways? Disaster and horror.
- Fighting the Hurricane
Fandom: Les Miserables, Pacific Rim
That's RIGHT IT'S ANOTHER ONE! A lovingly crafted tribute to the world of Pacific Rim. Using the cast of Les Mis, we are treated to the golden age of Rangers and Jaegers, and feel the full force of its downfall. This fic is not afraid to tear apart its characters.
- I'm not the Moon (I'm not Even a Star)
Fandom: Les Miserables
For the fanfic connoisseur. The Knives Out of shipfics on AO3. Tropes on tropes, except you only know half the tropes when you start out and have to figure out the rest. Takes its time, feels realistic, especially for an amnesia fic, takes recovery time seriously. A lovely read.
- Demonology and the Tri-Phasic Model of Trauma: An Integrative Approach
Fandom: Good Omens
Crowley gets the therapist he deserves. The author is a fantastic craftsman and has some of the most brilliant use of repetition that I've ever read. If you get the chance to read their original work, Nothing Fallow in Our Wake, I recommend it highly.
- Have You Heard
Fandom: Star Wars (BUT ITS A GOOD ONE)
Stormtrooper revolution based on Finn's escape from the sith. It's a story about stories. It's a story about names. It's a story about destinies. It's a story about family. The writing is excellent, and you can easily pretend that this is how the sequels went. Excellent wielding of iconic imagery.
- Too Sober Not to Know
Fandom: M*A*S*H
BJ and Trapper meet after the war and have no idea who they are to each other. The characterizations are spot on. It's funny, and the dialogue is as fast as the show. The competition they fall into makes perfect sense, their meeting, their departure, all of it.
- Even Now
Fandom: M*A*S*H
The Thing (1982) comes to MASH. Gayfranzkafka cannot miss. Horrible times are had by absolutely everybody. There's something to have a breakdown over every two seconds. Characterization, as always, is spot on. Makes me horrified. Makes me crazy. 10/10.
- Too Long We Have Tarried
Fandom: The Devil Wears Prada
I have never seen this movie. I know very little about it. This is hilarious and good and also? For a fic that precitates on a very unlikely and silly miscommunication, it's actually fairly realistic. It isn't played out to make Andy out to be an idiot. Very good.
- Seventy Miles East of Here
Fandom: M*A*S*H
What's this? Gayfranzkafa? Doing an astonishingly fantastic MASH AU? Yes. It's Time Traveler's Wife (but what if it was good and better?). If I were to make a complete thesis on BJ Hunnicutt, I would be wasting my time not to reference this text.
- Factory Settings
Fandom: Good Omens
The lore here is that is was published in entirety (60 chapters, 106,000 words) at MINIMUM 20 days after the season 2 finale release. It's anonymous. It's fantastic. The pacing is smooth and fast. Makes it feel like 10,000 words. It is an important hallmark of Good Omens Fanon.
- Beauty and the Geek, Xmen Style
Fandom: X-men Evolution
Airing some of my dirty laundry here. This fic is early, early fanfiction days, but honestly? Holds up pretty well. The author took the premise very seriously and wrote it out in ways that make sense rather than pure wish fulfillment. Cute fic!

- Redacted | The Adventure Zone Fan Song
Category: Fansong
The Adventure Zone thing. Not usually a fan of fansongs. This one is very cool. It has Wicked vibes - specifically No Good Deed. Lucretia sings about making the choice to fuck things up. Very cool. Execellent lyrics. Catchy chorus.
- Wire
Category: Animation
I am going to call Worthikids niche actually. Wire is constantly stuck in my head. I always think that if I ever got into cosplay I'd start with Big J. Their style is excellent. If you don't know them, now you do.
- To Belong
Category: Animated Crossover Series
This is a series made from edits of disney and other 2d animated movies. A world where every person has an animal form. The thought that went into which animal fits each character really shines. This is the cream of the crop of the medium.
- Villain || The Bad Guys Animation [AMV]
Category: Animation
Animation for the movie The Bad Guys! Very fun! I had brainrot about just this less than a minute long video for months.
- Turn Around: a Warriors AMV/mock 90's anime opening

Amelia B. Her animation is king shit. She does a lot of Warrior Cats, and also dabbles in some of her own original content as well. Highly recommend.
- The Lords of the Wing Spill Their Secrets (Dimension 20 Animated)

Dimension 20 again. A Court of Fey and Flowers. One of my favorite scenes. Long live Emily Axford. Excellent staging by the animator Melina Caron. check out her other shit! She's great at what she does.
- Under This Luminous Sky

Beautiful worldbuilding, a rare example of a youtube animation with spectacular voice acting. Reminds me of miyazaki films.

I am normal about improvised musicals. I am particularly normal about Off Book Podcast's Sing-a-matic universe episode Crash Crash Boom. This singular song is very normal. Normal. I love normal. I am normal.

Description
This used to be included within the Niche Youtube Recs but I just have so many animatics I like
- Wicked x Adventure Time Animatic
Works Involved: Adventure Time
Very fun. Defying Gravity as portrayed by Princess Bubblegum and Marceline. Great casting. Incredible flying sequences. Fun little au. And also the animator moved on to work on ROTTMNT. Just cool.
- Evan Kelmp Sends A Kid To Hell
Works Involved: Misfits and Magic (D20)
The title is self-explanatory. Aabria Iyengar my beloved. I will be adding more animatics from this creator, and god bless them but the animations that have come as a result of these animatics are Not As Good. Anyhow this one's fun.
- The Tombs of Atuan - music animatic
Works Involved: The EarthSea Cycle
Lake Fama is a fantastic animator. I recommend all of their videos. This one is from a series I have never read and know very little about, but the animatic rules. They also have two videos for Tangled which are excellent. And the Beetlejuice one.
- Romance Partner
Works Involved: Fantasy High Season 2
The animatic that got me into Dimension 20. Very fun.
- VILLAIN DEKU - The Other Side
Works Involved: My Hero Academia (sorry)
My Hero Academia. Another item that is stretching the definition of "niche." Anyways, very good. Very fun. Fun interpretation of the lyrics and tone of the original properties, excellent character casting, and great use of camera movement. Makes a fairly static scene seem very dynamic and energized.
- The Accident
Works Involved: OC DND Characters
VernilleArt's animatics based on their home DND game are all very fun and cool. Their character "MurderBird" is fantastic. Cool backstory, cool name, cool concept, cool animatics. Check 'em out!
- Ship in a Bottle [ FLASH WARNING! ]
Works Involved: OC Animatic
I'd be remiss to not include Shandzii's animatics for their and their friend's OC world and story. Very cool. They have an official lore presentation somewhere, Check that out if you like their story! Also, yeah obviously excellent animatics all around.
- Curse A Real Sword
Works Involved: My Brother, My Brother, and Me
Another crossover animatic that has excellent casting. Adventure Time but it's the McElroys. Very fun.
- MBMBAM: From Jerkin' It?
Works Involved: My Brother, My Brother, and Me
From one of their live shows. Love all of the facial expressions. Also love that this is something real that happened. :)
- Escape From Divinity
Works Involved: OC Animatics
ToastyGlow my beloved. They do a ton of stellar animatics and animations. This series is their original animatic series about a pair of characters' attempt to leave a cult. Very good. Excellent song use.
- Fantasy High Animatic: Fabian Talks to the AV Club
Works Involved: Fantasy High Season 1
What's this? Dimension 20? Animatic? Here? Crazy. Anyways this one's pretty funny. Fabian. Great. Look at it. See it. Excellent.
- Ylfa Snorgelsson | Dimension 20 Animatic | Never After
Works Involved: Never After (Dimension 20)
ANOTHER ONE!!!!! Song is from Matilda the musical. Haven't actually seen Never After, but I have seen this! A lot! It's very fun!
- TMA Episode 123 Animatic: Melanie angy!
Works Involved: The Magnus Archives
I love the high energy of this one and the scratchy sketchy lines.
- you ever think about ants?
Works Involved: The Magnus Archives
Ants. Ants. Ants. Ants. Ants. Ants. Ants. Ants. Ants.
- dnd but it's out of context
Works Involved: DND OCs
Really just your typical dnd game.
- [Animatic] Soldier, Poet, King
Works Involved: OC Animatic
Fun use of the song! Fun little story! I wish to have an NPC or a player like the king character some day! HINT HINT HINT HINT
- Grifters - Lords of the Wing Animatic [Dimension 20]
Works Involved: A Court of Fey and Flowers (D20)
Good choice in song! Great timing with the music! Fun style and colors!!!
- Baby It's Cold Outside
Works Involved: OC Animatic
Same person who did the animation Under This Luminous Sky. I love it when an animatic doesn't just use a song, but changes the meaning of it.
- Little Lion Man
Works Involved: OC Animatic
Fun concept! Might steal it! >:) Watch out DND players!
- Dream a Little Harder
Works Involved: Twisted (Starkid)
Listen, Starkid does not hold up, and genuinely should have received more criticism than it originally garnered due to, you know, the racism and transphobia. All of that said, this musical is not those things, and also it's spectacular. This is an incredible musical satire, and this animatic is also fun.
- Never Ever Getting Rid of Me
Works Involved: Clone High
Super cute and fun!!

Some films. Top tier quality, cream of the crop, foundational films that are keystone to the culture of every person of sophistication or else on a path to self-betterment.
- The Care Bears Movie (1985)
Ideal Watch Atmosphere: VHS, in the afternoon
It's peak cinema. The graffiti makes for a great read. The finale is high stakes. The settings are spectacular. This movie changed the chemistry of my blood, pretty sure.
- Jesus Christ Superstar (1973)
Ideal Watch Atmosphere: At home, with friends who have never seen it before when you also haven't seen it
Right up there with Prince of Egypt in terms of stellar Christian media products. It's jarring and fantastic. Carl Anderson fucks like nobody else on earth. See Lindsey Ellis's WHYYYYYYYY in the Youtube Niche section if you have any questions.
- Hairspray (2007)
Ideal Watch Atmosphere: In a living room, while dinner's cooking in the other room
Tracy Turnbladt only makes two fuck ups: when she smacks a police officer when she is in no position to protect the groups who will be most affected by their retaliation, and when she doesn't fuck Seaweed. Shout out to Zach Lusby for performing the best parody of this song.
- Paulie
Ideal Watch Atmosphere: On VHS
I like this movie! This may have been the start of my bird fanatacism? Truly could have been. Before this it was lizards, and before that it was bugs. Anyhow it's very sweet. Also! Dreamworks live action movie!
- Moulin Rouge (2001)
Ideal Watch Atmosphere: After a very long day, with as many other people as possible
I'm a sucker for a story within a story. You watch the first ten (fifteen? thirty??) minutes and it's like Jesus Christ this is insane but I'm ready for it. Then by the thirty minute mark, you're like 'hang on, this guy kinda has a point.' And then it kills you! :D
- Chocolat (2000)
Ideal Watch Atmosphere: On DVD, at night, in a room with only one other light on
Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. Johnny Depp is in it, but it doesn't matter! It's very sweet, fairytale vibes. Anti-catholic guilt? Anti-protestant work ethic? Yes please! After this movie, you can even eat chocolate just like in the movie chocolat.
- 20 Feet From Stardom (2013)
Ideal Watch Atmosphere: With good speakers, or else in a classroom filled with punkrock children
Merry Clayton. It's stunning. They're stunning. It is abhorrent to me that the movie is like "some people just don't want to be famous, and that's why out of all these black women, only one of them became famous after fighting for her entire life for recognition." Otherwise, changes you.
- Batman Returns (1992)
Ideal Watch Atmosphere: Anytime. Any time at all. But near Christmas is great. NOT with your mom.
...and women.
- But I'm a Cheerleader (1999)
Ideal Watch Atmosphere: Alone, started when the sun is still out, but ended when the sun has long set
Obviously. Symmetry, framing, and colors. GREAT. MOVIE.
- Bound (1996)
Ideal Watch Atmosphere: On a television screen, far far away from you
These lesbians? Oh? These lesbians? Oh them? Oh, these lesbians? They FUCK! Good movie. Very tenderhearted at its core. Both actors have perpetual can't-close-their-mouth-disease.
